Meet Amanda Thackray
Summer 2023 Artist-in-Residence
Amanda Thackray is an artist, educator, communal gardener, and forager
whose practice is grounded in handmade paper. She is invested in using local materials to experiment with papermaking processes.
Her project included deep site research – exploring, talking with the community,
writing notes, experimenting with foraged materials, and taking photographs.
She plans to create a catalog of indigenous and invasive plant varieties
to harvest specimens, process, and make paper.

Her residency also included a solo exhibit in the Communications Hall Gallery
from Janauary 30 - March 7, 2025, "Walking the Meadow."
A featured piece was the re-imagining of an East 40 meadow,
hand-crafted from paper of hundreds of plants.
